Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona after having a £34m bid accepted by the club, though the Catalans are still waiting for an offer from Juventus, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners may be in the driving seat to bring the Chilean World Cup star in this summer, with the 25-year-old said to have chosen a move to north London over being a makeweight in the deal for Luis Suarez to move to the Nou Camp.

Arsenal are ready to spend big again after splashing out a club-record £42.5m on Mesut Ozil last summer, and it is also thought that they will win the race for Sanchez’s signature as Juventus would struggle to afford him.

The Italian giants may have to sell before they can buy, and are waiting on offers for star midfield duo Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal.

Juve feel they could bring in big money for either player, with Pogba attracting interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, while Vidal is reported to be a top target for Manchester United.

Barca are seemingly not in a hurry to sell, and are waiting to see if the Serie A champions can compete with Arsenal for Sanchez’s signature.
