Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are currently leading the chase for in-demand Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, according to Spanish publication AS.
The two clubs have reportedly each tabled a bid of £47.5m in an attempt to lure away the Argentine World Cup star, who was in fine form for Carlo Ancelotti’s side as they won the Champions League and Copa del Rey this season.
It is thought that, despite the wishes of Madrid manager Ancelotti to keep Di Maria at the club, the 26-year-old no longer feels happy with life at the Bernabeu as key figures at board level wish to sell him on and raise funds to sign Colombian World Cup sensation James Rodriguez.
This has seen a number of top clubs show an interest in Di Maria, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and AS Monaco also mentioned as interested parties, though it is United and PSG who have made a formal offer to Real.
United are in the hunt for new top-quality additions on the flanks this summer, having also been linked with Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez, and new manager Louis van Gaal has seemingly chosen to prioritise a move for Di Maria.
