The first finalist of the 2014 World Cup will be confirmed as hosts Brazil take on Germany in the semi-finals with a place against either Netherlands or Argentina on Sunday the reward for the winners.

Neither of these sides are strangers to latter stages of the tournament, with the Brazilians having won the World Cup a record five times, whilst the Germans have three victories to their name.

However, it is the Samba Boys that have the most concerns heading into the clash as they are without talisman Neymar and captain Thiago Silva.

The FC Barcelona forward injured his back during the quarter-final victory over Colombia and has been ruled out of the rest of the competition, whilst Silva picked up a yellow card in the same game and is therefore suspended.

New Paris Saint-Germain signing David Luiz will be handed the armband in his fellow defender’s absence, whilst Bayern Munich centre-back Dante is expected to partner the £40m skipper.

For Joachim Low his side will be without Sampdoria defender Shkodran Mustafi who is still struggling with a thigh injury, whilst Arsenal ace Per Mertesacker remains a doubt due to the flu.
