Arsenal are set to raid the transfer window for one of the most impressive ‘keepers of the World Cup, reports the Mirror.

Arsene Wenger’s men are readying a £3m bid for Colombian 25-year-old David Ospina, who performed excellently this summer until his side were knocked out by hosts Brazil.

He currently plies his trade in France with Nice, but Arsenal want to bring him to the Emirates as backup to Wojciech Szczesny – with last season’s bench option Lukasz Fabianski having already joined Swansea on a free transfer.

Wenger has been put off by the £10m asking price Cardiff put on David Marshall, and similarly by the £6m one Reading put on Alex McCarthy – and the veteran Frenchman believes Ospina will be far better value.

Ospina is agile, and prides himself on his reflexes and shot-stopping ability, and he’ll hope to challenge Szczesny for the no.1 jersey.

Arsenal have yet to make a summer signing, although Mathieu Debuchy, Alexis Sanchez and Loic Remy are all expected to arrive imminently.
