Arsenal’s £24m Target Will Only Join The Gunners If He Is Better Paid Than Mesut Ozil

Khedira demands to be the best paid player if he is to move to the Emirates.

Real Madrid midfielder and Arsenal’s £24m target Sami Khedira has told the Gunners he wants to be the best paid player should he move to the Emirates Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsene Wenger is keen on signing a holding player this summer to support the more creative sources such as Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere in the middle and Khedira is on his wishlist.

However, whilst the Germany international is keen on the switch the 27-year-old is currently paid £150,000-a-week at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and would want to see that matched by the North Londoners.

Currently club record signing Mesut Ozil is the highest paid player at the Emirates on £140,000-a-week, meaning Khedira would become the best paid star in the squad if his demands are met.

If this proves to be a problem Wenger has identified other options for the defensive midfield role, including Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin.

Khedira is currently away at the 2014 World Cup with Germany, having helped them to their eighth final with his performances, with the nation facing Argentina on Sunday.

The Madrid ace was on the score-sheet as Joachim Low’s side ran out 7-1 winners during the thrashing of hosts Brazil in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
