The not always reliable Daily Mail claims that Liverpool’s maverick forward Luis Suarez is hoping to be officially confirmed as a Barcelona player today…
The 27-year-old Uruguayan will become the third most expensive player of all time behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, when the monstrous £75m deal is concluded between the Spanish and English giants.
However, a deal is being held up until Barcelona complete a £30m sale of Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal, which will pave the way for Suarez to arrive at the Nou Camp and take the available no.9 shirt. When this is announced, Barcelona will finalise the biggest deal of their summer.
Arsenal are looking to wrap up deals for Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy by the end of this week as well, while Liverpool are expecting to immediately spend some of their Suarez money on Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic.
