President Andrea Agnelli’s watchword is self-financing, and Juve must cash in on either Vidal or Paul Pogba to balance their books.

United received just £800,000 in compensation when Pogba left the club for Turin back in 2013. Juventus are now rating the France international at over £60m.

The Premier League side are weighing up a £30m offer for Chilean international Vidal, which is believed to be an offer that the Italians will find hard to refuse.

The Red Devils have already entered talks with Juventus over Patrice Evra’s transfer to the Serie A champions and the English sides are hoping that the discussions could lay the groundwork for a move for Vidal.

New United boss Louis Van Gaal has already brought one midfielder to the club in the shape of Ander Herrera, and he is though t to be keen on adding Vidal as he believes he would add some significant quality and a viable goal threat.
