Real in surprise link to Milan star.Real Madrid could make something of a surprise move for AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy as a replacement for Alvaro Morata, according to El Confidencial.
The Spanish giants are possibly keen to improve their options upfront with the departure of Morata, who has been strongly linked with Juventus, and may sense an opportunity to land El Shaarawy on the cheap in this transfer window.
The Italian youngster has just endured a frustrating season hit by injuries, and Milan’s financial situation may mean they are ready to cash in on him if clubs start to show a strong interest.
Real could make an opening offer of around £15.9m for the 21-year-old, who has long been regarded as one of the most exciting young players in Serie A and possibly Europe, despite a difficult campaign in 2013/14.
Capable of playing upfront or on either flank, El Shaarawy could benefit from a change of club at this stage in his career, with Milan in general struggling badly on the pitch last season, missing out on European football altogether after some bad performances.
Star striker Mario Balotelli is also being linked with a move away from the San Siro this summer, with rumoured interest from Liverpool.
