The Gunners confirmed the arrival of £32m man Alexis Sanchez yesterday evening and are expected to add further signings before next season with Debuchy long linked as Arsene Wenger’s first choice to replace Bacary Sagna at right-back.
However, the Newcastle United man is not the only player in Wenger’s sights, as he also aims to bring in young Spaniard Manquillo on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 20-year-old is a highly regarded prospect at Atletico, though he has found regular first-team opportunities hard to come by for much of his career so far, and may be open to a move.
Manquillo would likely arrive as a backup to Debuchy, which also casts some doubt over the future of Carl Jenkinson at the Emirates Stadium, with the England international being pushed even further down the pecking order.
With Newcastle in need of a new signing at right-back to replace Debuchy, Jenkinson has been linked with a move in the opposite direction to St James’ Park.
