Barcelona have asked Fifa for permission to unveil new £75m signing Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp next week as a presentation may go against the rules of his recent four-month ban.

The Uruguayan has been suspended from ‘all footballing activity’ until November for a bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini whilst playing for his country at the 2014 World Cup, and his punishment includes a ban from visiting any football stadium.

Barca traditionally unveil their big-name signings at their home ground in front of a sell-out crowd, and would certainly hope to do so here with the signing of the Premier League’s Player of the Year and top scorer from 2013/14, but may not be allowed to do so after this latest in a long line of behavioural incidents in Suarez’s career.

According to the Twitter feed of Spanish publication AS, Barcelona have requested that the 27-year-old will be allowed to appear, and that they hope to have an answer from the football world governing body by Monday.

The talented forward’s move to La Liga will be surely among the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window, but he will have to wait until nearly midway through the season in Spain to make his debut for his new club.
