Liverpool are believed to be attempting to hijack Arsenal’s move for striker Loic Remy after making an official approach to Queens Park Rangers for his signature, according to the Metro.

Remy has been told that he is free to leave the Premier League new boys this summer for a fee of £10m, and it is Arsenal who have been heavily linked with a move to land his services, who were said to be confident of landing their man.

However, reports coming from Merseyside claim that the Anfield club are preparing to get the jump on their London rivals by opening discussions with QPR over a transfer.

The Reds are already planning on bolstering their strike force following the exit of Luis Suarez with Wilfried Bony likely to join from Swansea, but Remy would give them even more fire power.

Remy bagged 14 goals in 27 appearances for Newcastle United during a season long loan spell last term, and the Magpies had also been hoping to fend off the advances of their Premier League counterparts and keep him at St James’ Park.
