Liverpool Ready To Hijack Tottenham’s Move For £20m Striker

Liverpool ready to rival Spurs for Ivorian striker.

Liverpool are plotting to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony, reports talkSPORT.

The Reds are keen on landing Bony after having missed out on FC Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal as they get set to replace their star striker Luis Suarez, who is days away from joining Barca himself.

Bony impressed in his very first season in the Premier League last term, having netted 25 goals in all competitions for the Swans.

Tottenham’s £18 million offer for the 25-year old has been rejected, but Liverpool’s officials are already holding talks with the former Vitesse Arnhem man as they are confident of matching Swansea’s £20 million valuation of the player.

Although Liverpool have already signed Southampton ace Rickie Lambert, they will need more firepower upfront to replace the outgoing Suarez, and manager Brendan Rodgers sees Bony as a good option.

It is unlikely though that Liverpool’s spending would end with Bony as they plot for a Champions League adventure this season.
