The 24-year-old will now be focusing on lifting the World Cup trophy for his country, but could then be set for another big moment in his career as he appears to close in on a big move to the Bernabeu.

Kroos is expected to reject offers from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea to sign for Real on a six-year contract worth around £9.5m per year.

Despite being a key player for Bayern during their recent success in the Bundesliga and in Europe, Kroos has seemingly become unhappy with his role in the team and with the wages on offer from the Bavarian giants, choosing not to renew with the club as his current contract comes close to expiring.

The silky playmaker would be free to leave the club on a Bosman next summer, leading Bayern to accept an offer from Madrid to let him go this year, in what could go down as one of the best signings of this transfer window.

Kroos won the Champions League as part of a treble with Bayern in 2013, but was part of the side thrashed 5-0 on aggregate by Real as they went on to claim the trophy this season.
