Man United have reached agreement with Juventus and Real Madrid in their long term pursuits of South American pair Arturo Vidal and Angel di Maria.

CaughtOffside understands that Man United chief executive Ed Woodward has been hard at work securing deals to sign the pair having been given the all clear by new boss Louis van Gaal to bring in the duo.

Man United have met Real Madrid’s €51m (£40m) valuation of 26 year old winger di Maria as the Bernabeu side look to cash-in on the Argentine ahead of a big money move for AS Monaco youngster James Rodriguez.

Di Maria is ready to leave the Spanish capital and has already reached an agreement on the terms of a four year Man United contract and his arrival will greatly boost the club’s wide-attacking options.

Van Gaal is ready to listen to offers for Wilfried Zaha, Ashley Young and Nani and may also consider the sale of Luis Antonio Valencia.

Though di Maria’s first team role was limited at Real Madrid since the arrival of Gareth Bale the former Benfica man still finished last season as the club’s leading assist maker.

Man United will pay Juventus €44m (£39m) for Chilean Arturo Vidal as the Premier League side re-shuffles their midfield pack having already brought in Spaniard Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.

Van Gaal is keen to bring in more creativity to boost the club’s brittle midfield and there are question marks over the futures of under-performing players such as Tom Cleverley, Micheal Carrick, Darren Fletcher as well as Belgian Marouane Fellaini, who will be made available for less than half the £27.5m they paid Everton for the midfielder last summer as they look to initiate a quick sale.

Vidal has scored regularly and provide assists aplenty during his three season spell at Juventus, winning Serie A titles in each of his campaigns at the Turin outfit, Antonio Conte is ready to sell the former Bayer Leverkusen man to help fund summer moves and knows that a sale will help avert the departure of French youngster Paul Pogba.

Such moves will not bring an end to Man United’s high-profile spending this summer though as Dutchman van Gaal looks to also sign a new central defender with Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels though to be his preferred option for the role.

Louis van Gaal will start work as Man United boss on Wednesday with the former Ajax, Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss opting for only a short break following his World Cup endeavours before taking charge of the Old Trafford side in earnest.
