The 27 year old Juventus playmaker has reportedly set his heart on a move to the Premier League and a move it close with Man United set to pay £32m whilst also allowing left-back Patrice Evra to move to the Turin side in part-exchange.

Vidal will offer Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal a real goal threat in the final third, more than can be said for the likes of Tom Cleverley, Micheal Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Marouane Fellaini, and the addition would prove to be Man United’s third high-profile capture of what might prove a busy summer.

Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw have been brought in from Athletic Bilbao and Southampton and van Gaal may well want to see a fair few additions made as Man United look to improve a squad that could only manage a seventh place finish last term.

Vidal has scored 28 goals and provided 17 assists over the course of the past three Serie A campaigns and is arguably at the peak of his powers and could be a player van Gaal looks to build his midfield around.
