Liverpool have offloaded another player to La Liga this evening, with Sevilla confirming that they have agreed a deal to sign forward Iago Aspas on a season long loan, so long as a medical is passed and contracts are signed.

The La Liga club have also confirmed that the agreement allows them to sign Aspas after the season has drawn to a close for an agreed sum, should he impress sufficiently on his return to Spain.

Aspas signed for Liverpool from Celta Vigo twelve months ago, but he struggled to adapt to life in England and has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ most disappointing signings, scoring his only goal against League One outfit Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup.

The 26 year-old is still highly rated in his homeland, however, and will be considered as something of a coup for Unai Emery and Sevilla as they look to build on their fine Europa League winning campaign.

The Sevilla report does make it clear that a medical is yet to be passed and contracts yet to be formally signed, but with the player and managing director Ian Ayre set to arrive to finalise the deal, it would appear to be a formality that Aspas will become a Sevilla player.
