Liverpool are reportedly interested in PSG striker Edinson Cavani who has apparently demanded a move away from the Parc des Princes as he seeks to secure a Premier League switch according to the Daily Star.

The 27 year old moved to the French capital last July but is said to be unhappy about his role in Laurent Blanc’s plans, unhappy with playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as being often used in a wide-attacking role that doesn’t suit his game.

This source claims the former Napoli man asked his agent to find him an English club and unsurprisingly this has led to speculation linking the powerful forward with a host of clubs.

On the subject of his future Cavani’s agent stated;

“In football you never know. Anything can happen,”

“One day you’re in one team and they next day you can be in another.”

Chelsea and Man United are both said to be keen on the striker, who cost PSG £51m, but the Daily Star believes a move to Anfield could be an option with Brendan Rodgers ready to use the £75m from the sale of Cavani’s national team colleague Luis Suarez to Barcelona to fund a big bid.

Perhaps Suarez will have ‘talked-up’ a potential move to Merseyside and though Rodgers has signed Southampton veteran Rickie Lambert it’s fair to say the England man is unlikely to fill the void left by last season’s Premier League top-scorer.

Prior to his move to Ligue 1 Cavani netted a very healthy 104 goals in three seasons in Naples.
