Liverpool’s move for Southampton’s centre-back Dejan Lovren has taken a new twist as the Croatian is now part of the Saints’ pre-season tour in Belgium, reports the Daily Express.

The 24-year old defender who threw tantrums at not being sold to Liverpool just a few days ago, is now surprisingly on tour with Southampton, raising concerns about his imminent switch to Anfield.

Liverpool are banking on the centre-back to join them and strengthen their backline, but it could well be that Southampton have convinced their man to stay on for another season. The Reds’ £20 million bid for the former Lyon man was earlier rejected by Southampton, who are demanding £25m for their star centre-back.

New boss Ronald Koeman does not want any more players to leave St. Mary’s after already having sold Luke Shaw to Manchester United, and Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to Liverpool already earlier in the summer.

It would now be interesting to see whether Kop boss Brendan Rodgers decides to up his offer further to expedite dealings for the centre-back or whether he looks at other possible options in the transfer market.
