Barcelona will not be able to unveil new £75m signing Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp due to his stadium ban, Fifa have confirmed, according to BBC Sport.

The 27-year-old is currently serving a four-month ban from all footballing activity after a controversial bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during a match at the 2014 World Cup, and is not allowed to enter any stadium anywhere in the world.

Barcelona were keen to be able to unveil their new signing from Liverpool, whose performances in the Premier League have seen him become regarded as one of the best players in the world, but Fifa have rejected this appeal.

The Catalan giants have a history of presenting big-name transfers to the crowd at the Nou Camp, as they did with Brazil starlet Neymar last summer to around 90,000 spectators, but it will be a long time before their fans can see anything of Suarez, with the Uruguayan not set to make his debut for the club until November.

The assault on Chiellini is not the first controversial incident of Suarez’s career, and the third one involving a bite on an opposition player, and Liverpool may have felt it was the right time to sell him due to the baggage he brings.
