Newcastle United have made Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere their fifth summer signing, confirms the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old put the finishing touches to his £6m move at the Magpies’ North Tyneside training base on Wednesday.

Alan Pardew has already recruited midfield trio Remy Cabella, Jack Colback and Siem de Jong this summer, from Montpellier, Sunderland and Ajax respectively, while he has also signed Tenerife forward Ayoze Perez.

Dutch international full-back Daryl Janmaat looks likely to be the next name on the Newcastle shopping-list, with the defender thought to be closing in on a £5m move from Feyenoord. Janmaat will will only be officially confirmed once Mathieu Debuchy’s move to Arsenal is complete.

Riviere scored 10 times for Monaco last season as they finished second to PSG in Ligue 1. But with Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Dimitar Berbatov ahead of him in the pecking order, the pacey frontman was allowed to leave.

Stoke City and West Brom had also been tracking the former France Under-21 international, who joined Monaco from Toulouse in January 2013, going onto score a total of 17 goals for Les Rouges et Blancs.
