Former Anfield boss Rafa Benitez is keen to bring in the tough tackling Brazilian and Brendan Rodgers may be ready to consider offers for the injury prone 27 year old.
With Adam Lallana and Emre Can having been brought in over the summer, and with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen also on Liverpool’s books there is every possibility that Lucas will struggle for regular action and could be tempted by a fresh challenge.
Gerrard’s move into a more withdrawn role meant that Lucas was at times played in different roles last term and Rodgers may feel he can afford to lose the long serving player.
Benitez brought Lucas to Merseyside in July 2007 and the former Gremio man has racked up 243 appearances for Liverpool.
