So CaughtOffside has decided to do a power ranking of the 10 best deals that have been confirmed so far – note this is judged on value for money, how important the individual is likely to be for the club and prominence of the transfer.
10. Bacary Sagna, Arsenal to Manchester City
Admittedly the Citizens were probably less in need of a new right-back than other sides due to the presence of Pablo Zabaleta, but landing a player of Sagna’s quality on a free transfer has to be considered a good deal.
However, with a lucrative three-year contract awarded to the 31-year-old things could turn a little expensive in the coming years.
