Manchester City Eyeing £50m England Youngster As Yaya Toure Replacement

City may have to pay big for midfield starlet.Manchester City have been linked with a move for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley as a replacement for the unsettled Yaya Toure, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20-year-old is one of the most outstanding young players in the Premier League at the moment, and enjoyed a superb breakthrough season last year as he became a regular for the Toffees and later made it into the final 23 for England’s World Cup squad.

However, despite big interest in the midfield prospect, it is thought that Everton would ask for as much as £50m to let him go at this stage, as they are determined to fight off any potential suitors.

City are known for their vast financial strength but even they may be unable to pay that much for a relatively unproven player, particularly after finding themselves breaching Uefa’s Financial Fair Play laws last season.

Still, the Premier League champions are concerned that Toure wants to leave the Etihad Stadium, with the powerful midfielder looking almost impossible to replace at this stage.

The 31-year-old scored 24 goals from midfield in 2013/14 and is wanted by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and even City’s English rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.
