Real Madrid Linked With Surprise Move For Manchester City Striker

Real linked with City squad player.Real Madrid could make a surprise bid for Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo this summer as they eye a replacement for Alvaro Morata, according to Fichajes.com.

The Spaniard only joined City from Sevilla a year ago, and has done reasonably well in his first season in English football with 23 goals in all competitions, though he did hit a dry spell in the second half of a season.

Negredo’s drop in form has seen him linked with Atletico Madrid in recent times as they eye replacements for the departing strike duo of Diego Costa and David Villa, though they have already moved to bring in Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich.

However, Real could now provide competition for his signature, as the club eye a solid and reliable backup option to first-choice front-man Karim Benzema, with youngster Morata closing in on a move to Juventus.

Although the Spanish giants have been linked with big names such as Luis Suarez in recent times, it may now be that with the Uruguayan heading to rivals Barcelona, they will keep Benzema as first choice whilst bringing in a player like Negredo as an option to rotate with the Frenchman.

It remains to be seen if City will allow the player to leave for similar reasons, as they will want to keep four quality options in attack as they look to challenge for potentially four major trophies next season.
