Spurs set sights on Serie A star.Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their sights on the signing of Roma striker Mattia Destro as they look to strengthen their options upfront, according to Fichajes.net.
The Italian international has not always been a regular for his club side, but showed some prolific form at points last season to attract interest from a number of clubs around Europe, and Spurs now look set to step up their interest in the player.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino has decisions to make over his attacking options, with the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado somewhat under-performing for much of last season, and Destro could be a good upgrade on the misfiring pair.
The 23-year-old managed 13 goals in just 20 appearances in 2013/14, establishing himself as a key player for Roma, though he may still be available for a reasonable price of around £19.7m.
Spurs will be hoping the striker is an improvement on another player they signed from Roma last summer, with £30m Argentine winger Erik Lamela struggling to impress and adapt to life in the Premier League.
Tottenham are yet to make any signings yet this summer, having spent over £100m this time last year following the departure of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
