Liverpool’s prime left-back target Alberto Moreno could be persuaded to make a switch to Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, who now see the 22-year old as a long term replacement for Chelsea departed Filipe Luis, reports talkSPORT.

They’ve already snared Guilherme Siqueire from Granada, but are considering signing Moreno as well to compete with the Brazilian for the now available spot.

Liverpool were very close to signing Moreno a few weeks ago, but they seem to have backed out of the chase citing the player’s £19 million price tag, which has worked in favour of the Los Rojiblancos. This development could make it even harder for the Reds to revive their interest in the Spanish international, particularly since Atletico are preparing a lucrative player plus cash deal for Moreno.

Atletico are willing to offer Arsenal target Javier Manquillo and forward Leo Baptistao plus £12 million for Moreno, which could tempt Sevilla to sell. It would be interesting to see who Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would pursue as his preferred left-back option, if he fails in the pursuit of Moreno.
