Liverpool look close to completing the signings of three superb new players next week as the club look to finalise deals worth a total of around £62.5m, CaughtOffside understands.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has already been busy this summer, bringing in Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic to add to his squad at Anfield, though the club have also had to deal with the departure of star striker Luis Suarez, who signed for Barcelona for £75m.

After coming so close to winning the Premier League title last term, Liverpool will be hoping to build an even better squad of players to choose from next season, and the deals currently in the works will surely put them in good shape to mount a serious title challenge in 2014/15.

Liverpool are in advanced talks with all three main targets, and are hopeful of being unable to unveil all three at the same time early next week, with some currently closer to completion than others, but with the club fairly confident of bringing all of their targets in, possibly putting most of their work in the transfer market to an end early this summer. See below for the players who could be closing in on moves to the Merseyside giants in the next few days.

3) Dejan Lovren (Southampton, £20m)

In a deal worth £20m, Liverpool have made considerable progress in their efforts to sign Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren. The Croatian international enjoyed a superb first season in the Premier League last season, and despite the Saints’ best efforts to keep the player at the club, they have reluctantly accepted a big-money bid from the Reds to allow him to negotiate a contract with the Merseyside club. The 24-year-old has been open about his desire to move to Anfield, and is likely to put pen to paper on a long-term contract to complete a move to join up with Brendan Rodgers’ squad for the new season.
