Liverpool may have already signed both Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana this summer, and they could well be close to completing a move for Dejan Lovren, but it appears that their summer raid on Southampton might not yet be complete.
The Daily Mirror are reporting that Jay Rodriguez has rejected fresh contract talks with the Saints, and is instead waiting on an offer from either the Reds, or rival suitors Tottenham.
New Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is eager to tie his England striker down with a five-year deal but he wants to see how serious interest from Anfield and White Hart Lane is before committing to a decision.
Rodriguez will be out for months yet with cruciate ligament damage but both of the big spenders are willing to buy him in that condition. Southampton do not want to lose another star, so they have asked his camp to sit down for talks.
The former Burnley man hit 15 Premier League goals last term before injury cut his season short. He also made his international debut against Chile in November 2013, but had his World Cup hopes dashed by his ligament damage.
