West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has tweeted that he does not see any reason why star striker Andy Carroll will be leaving the club this summer.

The 25-year-old England international only moved to Upton Park last summer, completing a £15m permanent transfer after having spent the previous campaign at the east London club on loan from Liverpool.

Once a £35m signing for the Reds from Newcastle United, it has been suggested that the Magpies are keen on bringing him back to St James’ Park this summer, though Gold has attempted to throw cold water on this speculation.

Known for engaging with West Ham fans via the social networking site, Gold responded to a fan’s question on Carroll’s future, with some supports clearly concerned about the rumours surrounding his future.

It remains to be seen if this will be the last we hear about this news, though Newcastle have been active already in bringing in new faces upfront in this transfer window.
