Liverpool enjoyed a brilliant season in 2013/14 and eventually finished second behind Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

It’s meant that for the upcoming campaign the Reds will make their return to the Champions League for the first time since 2009, but they will have to do it without key player Luis Suarez, who has agreed a move to FC Barcelona.

Regardless of that manager Brendan Rodgers will still be keen to challenge for the league title and has been busy in the transfer market and acquired four new players to date.

So CaughtOffside has decided to rank the Reds squad out of 10 to determine how ready they are to guide the side to a first league title since 1990.

Goalkeepers

Brad Jones – 3/10

The backup ‘keeper looks woefully inadequate when asked to play between the sticks and the Anfield faithful will be hoping the Australian isn’t called upon too often.

Simon Mignolet – 6/10

Bought as the new No.1 at the club and although started well following a £9m switch from Sunderland, has since proven to be a little erratic.

Pepe Reina – 6/10

Probably the best option, but is a figure that Rodgers does not want and the Spaniard is highly likely to be sold before the window shuts.
