By all accounts the 27 year old Chilean is only willing to consider moves to Real Madrid, Liverpool or Man United and this source surmises that therefore the Anfield side are in pole position.

One imagines the logic for this relates to the fact that Real Madrid have just signed Colombian James Rodriguez and without Champions League football to offer Man United may struggle to convince the Juventus man to move to Old Trafford.

Liverpool are certainly a club on an upward curve at present but one does wonder if Brendan Rodgers is actually likely to fork out the £42.5m that the Serie A side want for the former Bayer Leverkusen man.

Rodgers has already brought in Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert from Southampton as well as youngsters Emre Can and Lazar Markovic and it appears that Loic Remy and Dejan Lovren are set to follow and that bring the total to six high-profile summer captures, do Liverpool really need to make a seventh signing?

Vidal has played a pivotal role in three successive Serie A title triumph and the departure of Antonio Conte could well prove a key factor in whether the attacking midfielder is genuinely seeking an exit from the Turin based side.
