Arsenal And Manchester United Target On Verge Of Joining Another Premier League Club

Martinez confirms he is on the verge of signing the highly rated 18-year old Henen.

Everton are set to beat competition from Manchester United and Arsenal to land 18-year old Belgian starlet David Henen.

Reports from talkSPORT suggest that the Toffees have all but finalised a move for the versatile forward, and the Merseyside club’s boss Roberto Martinez too has confirmed that the deal is close to completion.

“It is in the process of being completed. He’s a young, talented footballer who represents Belgium in the lower teams, in the Under-18s and has had good experience in going to France,” Martinez said.

Martinez also stated that Henen would sign for Everton’s Under-18 team initially before making a gradual progression into the first team.

The teenager can play in a number of attacking positions and has been viewed as a prodigious talent at his current club Anderlecht.

The Toffees are close to striking a £1 million deal, and it is rather surprising that neither Manchester United nor Arsenal have managed to outbid Everton despite being extensively linked with the teenager for many a week.

Henen has two goals in four appearances for the Belgian Under-18 side, and spent the second half of last season on loan with AS Monaco’s reserves.
