Liverpool are set to receive a blow, with Sky Sports reporting that big money playmaker Adam Lallana is set to miss the start of the Premier League season after suffering a knee injury in training:

The 26 year-old arrived at Anfield this summer from Southampton, with many eyebrows having been raised over the fee, in the region of £25 million, that was paid to the Saints and whether it represented value for money for Liverpool.

It now looks as though Reds fans are going to have to wait longer to find out whether Lallana has what it takes to be a success for one of England’s biggest cubs, with these reports suggesting that a knee injury suffered in training could rule the player out of the start of the Premier League season.

It would be the latest blow for Brendan Rodgers in what has been a disappointing pre-season campaign so far, with the Reds having been beaten 2-1 by Danish club Brondby and 1-0 by AS Roma, with Daniel Agger scoring a late own goal, in their two pre-season friendly fixtures so far.
