Manchester United could rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of PSV and Netherlands winger Memphis Depay, according to the Metro.
The 20-year-old wide-man impressed at this summer’s World Cup, scoring two goals for Louis van Gaal’s side to follow on from an impressive 14 for his club that season.
Depay’s fine form has seen him attract plenty of interest from the Premier League, with Spurs previously thought to be his biggest admirers, though it could now be that van Gaal will try to take the chance to work with him again at club level.
United are known to be in the market for new signings in the wide areas due to some continued disappointing form from the likes of Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia, and some big names have been linked with moves to Old Trafford this summer.
Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria has been mentioned as another top target for the Red Devils, but Depay could also be an exciting addition for the club, thought is is supposedly likely that he would not go straight into the first-team, spending his first season with the club out on loan.
The promising youngster has been a regular for PSV since the 2011/12 season, and has notched up 84 appearances for the club.
