Real Madrid could look to follow up their move for Colombian winger James Rodriguez with another raid on his old club AS Monaco for Radamel Falcao, according to Fichajes.net.

The former Atletico Madrid star is wanted back in La Liga after just one season with Monaco, whom he joined for around £51m last summer, and the player’s desire to leave the club could see Madrid land him on the cheap.

It is thought that an initial loan deal could be struck between the two clubs, with Real perhaps cautious about spending too much on a player who has spent the last few months out injured, but that a permanent transfer worth around £26m could happen next year.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in the prolific Colombian striker in recent times, though Real are stepping up their interest in the player as they seek further top-quality additions in attack, with some doubt over the future of French forward Karim Benzema.

The 26-year-old, a rumoured target for Liverpool, is expected to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu, but failure to do so could see Real short of an out-and-out striker, which would make Falcao their ideal signing in that position.
