Arsenal are ready to ramp up their summer transfer business once again, with manager Arsene Wenger now plotting a double swoop from Premier League rivals that could cost the Gunners a cool £25 million.

Reports in recent days have linked Arsenal with a move for winger Nani from potential title rivals Manchester United, with the Metro suggesting that new United manager Louis van Gaal sees no place for the Portuguese in his new-look system and that a move to North London could be imminent.

It now seems, however, that Nani could be joined at the Emirates Stadium by young Southampton right back Calum Chambers, who is being linked with a £16m move to the club in the coming days by the Daily Echo, the local paper on the South Coast.

Chambers would initially offer cover to first choice right back Mathieu Debuchy, who has only signed for the Gunners from Newcastle United this summer, but would also provide the club’s long term solution in that position.

The teenager has only made 21 league appearances for the Saints, but has impressed sufficiently to persuade Arsene Wenger that he is worth splashing out such a significant fee on.

Moves for Chambers and Nani would be confirmation of a shift in the club’s transfer policy towards domestically based players, with Debuchy already having put pen to paper this summer.
