Antoine Griezmann could disappoint a trio of Premier League clubs, headed by free-spending Arsenal, by electing to join Atletico Madrid – with press reports in Spain suggesting that the move could go through later today.

The Daily Mirror have sourced Spanish newspaper AS, who have claimed that negotiations are at an advanced stage, and have also picked up on the fact that the player’s Twitter page has been changed, with it no longer calling him a Real Sociedad player.

Griezmann, 23, who impressed during France’s run to the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, has attracted interest from a host of European giants, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.

All three of the Premier League heavyweights have been busy in this summer’s window. The Gunners have already signed Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy for a combined £45m, while they are believed to be closing in on a double-swoop for Southampton pair Morgan Schneiderlin and Calum Chambers, with the latter having completed his move earlier today.

Liverpool have recruited heavily using the funds made through the sale of Luis Suarez, signing Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Emre Can, while Tottenham have picked up Swansea duo Ben Davies and Michel Vorm.

However Atletico, who are desperate for new signings following the departures of Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois, are believed to be on the verge of beating their rivals to the signing of the Sociedad winger.
