The 19 year old passed a medical with the Premier League side on Friday and is the latest of Brendan Rodgers’ youthful captures, following youngsters Emre Can and Lazar Markovic, who moved to Liverpool move Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica respectively.

Liverpool are expected to pay £10m for Origi, who impressed in Ligue 1 last term and forced his way into Marc Wilmots 2014 World Cup squad, scoring the winner against Russia in the group stages.

La Liga title holders Atletico Madrid had attempted to hijack the deal but Origi will seemingly opt to join Liverpool and one can expect he will be farmed out on loan in 2014/15, perhaps back to Lille, given the number attacking talents Rodgers has at his disposal.

Brendan Rodgers is making good use of the £75m paid by Barcelona for striker Luis Suarez and may well bring in a number of further additions before the transfer window slams shut.
