PSG are apparently open to selling the Uruguayan so as to assist in their push to meet UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines though this source’s assertion that the Old Trafford side could land the former Napoli man for a fee of £38m is a little hard to fathom.

The Parc des Princes side paid Napoli £50m for Cavani a year ago and one would imagine they’d demand a similar fee, not least as the powerful marksman had a very decent first season for the Ligue 1 side, netting 25 goals in all competitions.

Man United have met Cavani’s representatives on four occasions and the PSG man is apparently very keen to leave as he is unhappy with having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It’s not immediately obvious as to how Louis van Gaal would find room for Cavani unless he were to consider selling Wayne Rooney and then it’s hard to see how the PSG would fit alongside Robin Van Persie.

There is perhaps the possibility that van Gaal may be looking to offload bit-part players Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck to accommodate Cavani but then the 27 year old is unlikely to be playing a limited first team role at the Premier League side.
