Barcelona could make a raid on Liverpool for the second time this summer with a bid for Danish centre-back Daniel Agger, according to Catalan publication Sport.
The print edition of the newspaper (as pointed out by 101 Great Goals) claims Barca could be readying a bid of around £11.8m for the 29-year-old, who has been at Anfield for the majority of his career so far.
New manager Luis Enrique has been tasked with revamping this current Barcelona squad, with defensive signings a priority following the retirement of long-serving stopper Carles Puyol and some unconvincing form at the back last season.
A host of other big names have been linked with a move to the Nou Camp, including Thomas Vermaelen of Arsenal, while French defender Jeremy Mathieu has already been signed from fellow La Liga side Valencia.
Agger could be next on Barcelona’s wish-list, and with previous rumours suggesting that Liverpool would be open to selling the player, he could be about to join his former Reds team-mate Luis Suarez in swapping Anfield for the Nou Camp this summer.
Liverpool, meanwhile, may already have a top-class replacement lined up, as the Merseyside giants close in on a £20m move for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.
