Queens Park Rangers and France striker Loic Remy will not be moving to Liverpool this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds had agreed an £8.5m transfer fee with QPR, but it appears that there was a problem with the 27-year-old’s medical.

Liverpool are currently in America on their preseason tour and Remy flew out to the States last week to finalise his switch to the Anfield club.

He had already agreed personal terms and was set to be allocated the number seven shirt, which Luis Suarez vacated when he moved to Barcelona earlier this month.

Remy underwent his medical tests in Boston and was then given a few days off.

During Remy’s break, Liverpool officials sought a second opinion regarding a medical issue and, after not getting the answer they had hoped for, they have abandoned their attempts to sign him.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will now switch his focus to identifying other striking replacements for Suarez.

Remy scored 14 Premier League goals in 26 games during a loan spell at Newcastle United last season.

He had been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but the Gunners were unable to agree personal terms with the Frenchman.
