The Colombian international, who has been one of the stand-out performers in Serie A in recent times, as well as impressing for his country at this summer’s World Cup, has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer.

A superb attacking midfielder, it is no surprise to see Cuadrado attracting so much interest from top clubs, and after holding talks with both Liverpool and United, it looks increasingly likely that he will decide on a move to the Premier League.

With Fiorentina setting an asking price of around £24m to allow the South American star to leave, they have accpeted offers from both Premier League giants, who are desperate to bring in players on the flanks this summer.

Cuadrado has emerged as a top target for both sides, and he is currently mulling over the two deals, with a final commitment expected to be made in the next few days, with the clubs keen to get the deal done and dusted quickly as they undergo their pre-season preparations.

Liverpool have been frustrated in missing out on Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy after he failed a medical with the club, and Brendan Rodgers is looking at a number of targets if he misses out on Cuadrado as well.

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri is another high-profile player being linked with the club, while Manchester United are also considering other options in that position as they pursue the signing of Real Madrid wide-man Angel Di Maria.

However, with Di Maria looking far more likely to sign for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, United are desperate to beat their rivals to the signature of Cuadrado, as new manager Louis van Gaal looks to continue his big summer spending.

Although the 26-year-old is keen to be playing in the Champions League, it is also thought that he has been impressed by van Gaal’s vision for United, and could opt to join the Red Devils even if it means not participating in Europe for one season.

Liverpool are also reported to be working on a deal for yet another Southampton player in Jay Rodriguez.
