Tottenham Hotspur have been put on high alert after learning that star midfielder Christian Eriksen has emerged as a top transfer target for Italian side Napoli this summer, the Metro reports.

Italian website TMW has picked up on claims by Gazetta dello Sport which suggest that Rafael Benitez’s side are weighing up a move for the Danish international after an impressive season at White Hart Lane last term.
Eriksen only linked up with Spurs last summer in a £11.5m deal from Dutch champions Ajax, and became one of their best players in an otherwise disappointing campaign.
However, despite being under contract in north London until 2018, he remained cagey about his long term future when quizzed by reporters in his homeland recently.
“I’m incredibly happy that [the fans] seem happy with me. I am very glad that they like what they see,” he said.
“Of course I have a dream and a secret plan in my head. But I keep it to myself. Right now I live in the moment and enjoy the success I have.”
It is being reported that Eriksen would be open to a switch to Italy, though Napoli may face a tough challenge in convincing Spurs to part with the player.
