Southampton are set to lose another big-name player this summer as the club prepare to open talks with Inter Milan over the sale of Dani Osvaldo, according to the Daily Mail.

With the Saints set to lose defensive duo Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers to Liverpool and Arsenal respectively, Osvaldo could also be set to join the likes of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw out of the St Mary’s Stadium exit door this summer, while Morgan Schneiderlin also continues to be linked with other clubs.

Osvaldo will perhaps not be one of the club’s biggest losses, with the Italian international having failed to impress since his club-record £15m move from AS Roma last summer.

After scoring only three goals in English football, the player returned to Italy for a loan spell with Juventus in the second half of last season, and despite the departure of Lambert upfront, he doesn’t seem to be in Ronald Koeman’s first-team plans for the new campaign.

Inter’s search for a new striker has also seen them linked with the likes of Manchester United man Javier Hernandez, though they seem to have opted for Osvaldo as the best option to solve their problems in that position.
