The Panenka penalty is generally the preserve of the most fearless and technically gifted footballers – so it came as some surprise when rugged Atletico Madrid defender Miranda attempted one last night.
Predictably enough, Miranda’s awful effort sailed over the bar – it was a good job that it was a pre-season friendly, really, meaning that the Brazilian could laugh off a failure that ultimately meant very little.
