The Juventus striker’s father has been taken in Argentina.

The Father of former Manchester City, Manchester United and West Ham United forward Carlos Tevez has been kidnapped from his car in Moron, Argentina, reports Todo Noticias.

Raimondo Tevez was taken by kidnappers who have requested a ransom to be paid for his release and whilst some reports say the Argentine government have adhered to these demands, the Tevez family say he has not been released.

Respected Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has confirmed this:

It’s understood that the Juventus striker will be returning to his home nation to support his family and until his Father is released by the kidnappers.

It’s believed that this was not a pre-meditated attack and that the abductors simply saw an opportunity when they saw someone driving an expensive car.

Since discovering he was the Father of Tevez the ransom fee has been increased as a result of this new information.

There is something of a precedent of relatives of footballers being kidnapped for ransom money in South America, with the aunty of AC Milan and Colombia defender Cristian Zapata taken in 2013.
