Reus has been rumoured to be a strong target for the Reds this summer as they plot a re-build following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Reports close to the Anfield club suggested last week that the Reds were weighing up a move for the talented attacker, but German newspaper BILD has claimed that the player has now turned down a new deal to stay with the former champions.

‘For a world-class player like him a bargain price! Top clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern and Manchester United have been alerted!’ the report in Bild says.

Reus’ current deal runs until 2017, but Dortmund are concerned by the fact his £27m release clause becomes active next summer.

Dortmund are determined to keep a hold of the 23-year-old throughout the transfer window, despite growing interest in his services.
