One of the sorriest sagas in Manchester United’s recent history coming to an end, with the Mirror reporting that United are ready to take a huge financial hit on Marouane Fellaini and allow the Belgian to join Serie A side Napoli.

The curly-haired midfielder has struggled to adapt to life at Old Trafford since making a big money move from Everton on the last day of last year’s summer transfer window, with former manager David Moyes gambling on bringing him to the club.

Fellaini has struggled to impress in either holding or attacking midfield roles, potentially convincing United to swallow their pride and allow him to leave for a fee of around half of what they paid for him just twelve months ago.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly keen to bring the player to Napoli – and a move away from the Premier League may be the best option for Fellaini after a nightmare twelve months for the club.

It would also provide Louis van Gaal with additional transfer funds to strengthen his squad, with United having been linked with a number of players – including central midfielders such as Arturo Vidal who would be direct competition for Fellaini.
