Liverpool have been handed a fresh transfer boost after Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins admitted that a big-money offer could tempt him into selling star striker Wilfried Bony this summer.

The Reds are still in pursuit of further new additions before the new season gets underway, despite already having already added Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi to their squad.

And Sky Sports have reported that the Reds could still tempt Ivorian striker Bony away from the Liberty Stadium during this transfer window, if they meet the Welsh club’s lofty valuation, believed to be in excess of £20m.

The Anfield club showed an interest in the 25-year-old earlier this summer, before being put off by the Swans asking price. They instead turned their attentions to QPR striker Loic Remy, but that deal has now fallen through following a failed medical.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is still in the market for a new striker following Luis Suarez’s departure to Barcelona, and could now return to his former club for Bony, who scored 16 Premier League goals last season.

“Wilfried Bony is a fantastic professional,” Jenkins told TalkSport. “If a top Champions League club comes in, and puts the right offer on the table, then of course we will speak to him.

“There are no issues with Bony. He’s a great guy to have around the club. As much as we want players to stay with us for a number of years, we have to be open.”
