Bayern Munich will hope to beat both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, according to AS.

The Argentine international has been high in demand this summer after appearing to become surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu after the club spent £63m on the signing of James Rodriguez from AS Monaco, and Bayern are the latest club to show an interest.

It had looked a two-way battle for the World Cup finalist, who was a top peformer for Carlo Ancelotti’s side as they won the Champions League and Copa del Rey last season, but Bayern have now thrown their hat into the ring for the 26-year-old.

With Pep Guardiola seeing both Toni Kroos and Mario Mandzukic leave the Allianz Arena this summer, the Spanish tactician could do with some new faces coming in, and he has seemingly idenfitied Di Maria as a top candidate to improve his attacking options.

The player is likely to cost around £59m, and Bayern will hope to capitalise on some uncertainty over his proposed switch to PSG, who are supposedly concerned about Financial Fair Play and looking to sell players before they can buy this summer.
